Il pieghettatore #86 può, a seconda delle impostazioni, eseguire una piega arricciata a ogni punto, ogni 6 punti o ogni 12 punti. È anche possibile cucire normalmente senza pieghettare (posizione dell'arricciatura = 0). L'arricciatura viene eseguita dalla speciale linguetta del piedino. Unitamente al movimento dell'ago verso l'alto e verso il basso viene spinta la stoffa sotto l'ago in modo uniforme. Ne risultano arricciature accurate e regolari su arredi per la casa o capi d'abbigliamento. La profondità delle pieghe può essere impostata progressivamente girando l'apposita vite di regolazione .
